Summary

One fake relationship . . .

Ginny Michaels has always been a good girl and—ever since surviving a school shooting a little over a year ago—hailed a hero. Except she doesn’t feel like a hero. She can’t even have a one-night stand with sexy Wes Dalton properly. When her big city fling resurfaces in her hometown with an intriguing proposition, she’s powerless to resist. A fake relationship is exactly what’s needed to keep her small town’s matchmakers at bay during the upcoming wedding season. If only her attraction to Wes were as easy to ignore.

Too many real kisses . . .

Wes Dalton doesn’t have many regrets, and that includes his night with Ginny. But he’s always hoped to strengthen his relationship with his estranged family. When his father’s health takes a bad turn, Wes puts his life on hold and moves to the meddling seaside town of Cape Hope. With his barriers in place—and a beautiful woman to help him hold them up—he’s prepared for anything. Or so he thinks. Despite his determination to leave as soon as the summer is over, those fake kisses are starting to feel an awful lot like the real thing.

Guest Post – Breaking All The Rules In Elyssa Patrick’s FOUR WEDDINGS AND A BREAK UP

Thank you so much for having me on your blog during the FOUR WEDDINGS AND A BREAK UP blog tour! FOUR WEDDINGS AND A BREAK UP is about what happens when a fake relationship becomes all too real.

FourWeddingsElyssaPatrick

In the book, Ginny and Wes decide to fake date to get through the wedding season and to stop the set-ups from their family and friends. Too soon, though, Ginny and Wes realize that the attraction between them is burning way too hot. One of the rules they established was to use a code word, “Ducks,” for when things get too much to handle.

One of my favorite scenes in the book is when Ginny, who has instituted a “No Kissing” policy because she fears she really likes Wes, decides that they need to kiss again. Just to keep up appearances. Yeah, right. Here’s that scene:

“Wes.” She licked her lips. “I know what you’re thinking.”

She did? That made one of them. He had no idea what he was thinking. “You do?”

“You want to reinstate the kissing thing. You think it’s going to be hard to be a ‘couple’ with no kissing, especially at a wedding.” She fidgeted, now worrying that same lip. “I think . . .”

He stepped closer to her, placing one hand on the side of her apartment building, the other on the knob of the door, effectively closing her in. “You think what?”

“Maybe I was too hasty before. That fight”—she gave a shake of her head—“that fight was so stupid. I don’t want that hanging over our heads anymore. I was mad. I need to take back the no kissing thing.”

“You want us to kiss?”

“Just for pretend. It’s a wedding. We’re going to have more of them. My cousin’s is on July 4. There’s another toward the end of August—an old family friend’s son is getting married. Who knows what other invites will come? And . . .” She straightened, her chin going up. “I made a deal. With you. I don’t like going back on my word or breaking a promise. We said in the beginning what the rules were. We’re both reasonable adults. Grown up. Mature. Intelligent. Realists. It’s not like either one of us is going to get carried away by a kiss and forget ourselves. It’s not like—”

He stopped her rambling the only way he knew how. He kissed her, short, long, sweet, hard—all the adjectives in the world couldn’t begin to fully describe the way he explored her mouth. Maybe it was the stupidest move he’d ever made. Maybe it was the smartest. Whatever it was, Wes couldn’t deny one thing—it felt so, so right.

What are some of your favorite books that feature fake dating or a fake engagement?

The Shadow Prince by Stacey O’Neale

I liked Rowan. He’s hilarious, witty, loyal, strong and perfect, literally.

I think this book is an example of what prequels are supposed to be, it was a great introduction to a series and gave the reader a perfect does of what to expect while leaving them wanting more. The sneak peak of Mortal Enchantment at the end of the book was perfect. Even if I do hate cliffhangers. It left the plot set up for a punch.

The time transitions were a little rough, but the book itself was so thought out and so well written. The characters were also great.

Touchstone of Love (A Time Travel Romance) by Beth Baran

OK, first I’d like to start by saying that I truly enjoyed this novella!

Although a bit short (it is a novella, after all) it was well paced and well thought out.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

So here we go,

This story starts out with the main character missing her flight to Edinburg, Scotland. Rose is very much a modern woman and when she finally makes it to Edinburg she gets sent back in time when she is caught in a storm while sightseeing cathedrals…(it kind of reminded me of Back to the Future, i.e. the lighting) anyway…

The only problem I had with the book was that Rose was a bit, shall we say, too forward in trying to seduce her male counterpart (Julien).

And although the novella is short and there are parts of their relationship that are a bit rushed, it made sense in that love can happen at any moment no matter the time or the circumstances that you are in.

And when Rose and Julien finally make it to the altar, she gets sent back to her own time….and therein lies the twist….will they get back together?

A solid 4 out of 5.

Upside Down by Liz Gavin

Image

Good evening, blog readers:

I want to start off by apologizing for abandoning the blog for so long…unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way of reading…which makes me kind of sad. But moving on, I’m kicking off my blog again and I’m going to start with “Upside Down” by Liz Gavin, the book was provided by the author for an honest review.

So the story starts off with the first book, rather than jump straight in to the sequel, which I found perfect for those who haven’t read the first book or simply need a refresher of the first book.

I liked that we saw more of Carol, and how the author was able to showcase her conflict with having feelings for both Mark and Cindy.

What I really liked about this book is that the reader can really understand Carol’s POV, the author did a great job of humanizing Carol and really showcasing her feelings and her struggle during her journey. Not only showcasing her feelings but also giving us a glimpse into the world she grew up in as well as how that has had an impact on her during the course of the book.

Having said that, I would like to point out that i would have liked to have experienced the same amount of exposure to both Cindy and Mark’s POV.

The story was well told and I give it a rating of 3.5.
